Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself, and my black dane Deebo!!! I have recently bred him with a beautiful Harlequin female, and the litter is due in mid-Jan... I am soooo excited. I waived stud fee for pick of the litter. My question to all of u is, how do i pick the best and biggest pup of the litter? Is the largest pup always going to be the largest dog? When i got my Dane, Deebo, that i have now, he was the only one and i gladly bought him, he was soo adorable. He is black with a white spot on chest, 32" at the shoulders and just perfect and lovable, he is the light of our lives. He is 6yrs old in Feb, and i am going to get one of the pups for him to enjoy in his older age. He has the perfect temperment to help with the pup and is very social with other dogs. He is also in excellent health for his age, no hip problems, or any health problems at all.
As soon as i figure out how i will post pics of him and then of the new pup when i get him....
Thanx in Advance for Any Help in Picking the new Pup!!!

Welcome to DOL, and please explore and learn!
It breaks my heart to read your message, because I wish you would have found us before you ever thought of breeding your dog.

Welcome to DOL Melissa.
I hope this place gets to be one of your favorite online hang outs and that you get alot of good info from it.
Its great that you have a dane to love in your life who is of a good age.
You commented that the health of your boy is good.... prior to breeding did you have specific health checks done over a standard vet check?
Did the harlequin to be mom?
How old is the harlequin?
Do you know much about her and her background?
How long has this breeder been in Danes?
Are they breeding to keep anything for themselves?
Do they show at all?
Do you show?
In all honesty size of a Great Dane should be one the last things to be worried about.
Health & a stable temperament should rank at the top.
Is this your boy's 1st litter?
Are you in contact with his breeder?
Have they given you any info/help in regards to this breeding.. their thoughts, etc?
These are just the beginning of questions on many of our minds when someone posts about expecting a litter.
Its because we all are here because we love Danes and what the absolute best for them.
Please don't feel as if this post is an attack against you.
It isn't.
Its honest.
