Hi All!
I figured that I have lurked long enough. I have been a part of this board way back when it first started and then took some time off. I have been lurking lately but recently posted about bloat on the Health section and figured that I would introduce myself.
My name is Suzy and I used to run the Great Dane Rescue for San Diego and went through some MAJOR burn-out combined with a move out of state. In my year running the rescue I placed over 60 Danes into wonderful homes. It was so sad to me to see all the *throw away* Danes in Southern California. My heart continues to go out to all who still do rescue, especially in So Cal. I currently live in the state of Washington, in the Olympia area. Thankfully Danes aren't as popular up here!
I am currently owned by 3 Great Danes, all rescues: Poh, our 9 year old male, mismarked Mantle, who is my 8 year old son's dog. Charity who was a joint rescue effort of some wonderful people in So Cal - including Rachel who named her. Charity is 5 years old, black and was in the movie The Patriot. She is my 9 year old daughter's dog. And then the one that I call my nutcase, Clarise. She was a severely abused rescue that I received pregnant. I was able to place all of her puppies but Clarise is a very mixed up Merle.
We also have a Pomeranian, a Shepard mix, numerous cats, a Parakeet, a horse and a pot belly pig. To say that my family loves animals is an understatement.
OK...I have made this long enough. Just wanted to say "Hi".
Blessings,
suzy
PS I will post some pictures after the holidays. But you can see a picture of Charity on Rachel's website: http://www.6stardanes.com/hwddan8.html
