Hi everybody:) I just wanted to stop in and introduce myself and hopefully get some help with an adoption question.
My wife and I recently lost our dane to heart disease:( He had just turned 8 years old and his name was Blu. We got him from a breeder when he was 4 months old. He was the last of the litter to go because he was a little on the small side for a male and mis-marked.
What he lacked in size he more than made up in peronality, intelligence, and love.
It's been several weeks now and we have decided we are going to get another dane. We initially thought about a puppy but after seeing the danes in need of adoption we decided to go that route. We live in the Roanoke area of VA and have been trying to get in touch with Debra Rahl. According to the info on MAGDRL she covers the 540 area of our state. However it's been a week now and I have had no responses to my email or phone calls.Does anyone know of any other contacts that I can talk to? Thank you for your help and for such a great board.
John

Hi, I know that Debbie has had some email problems due to that Sobig32 worm that hit about a week ago. I would be more than happy to forward this message, and if you wanted to email me your contact info, forward that info to Debbie or another adoption volunteer.
My email address is danemist@yahoo.com
Thanks for choosing rescue!!!

Probably the fastest way to reach Debby would be a telephone call to the MAGDRL phone line. 410-945-5454 This topic has been forwarded to her as well. She has a couple of volunteers that help with phone calls, so even if Debby is busy usually someone will recieve the message.
Thanks,
Christina

Hi John,
I'm sure someone will be getting in touch with you soon! This has been a very busy week for our volunteers with the virus attacks to e-mail, getting kids ready to go back to school and the sudden flood of danes coming in. We've gotten several "emergency" calls about danes in kill shelters that volunteers have been working to get placed into foster homes before it's too late. We try to respond as quickly as we can, but sometimes we're stretched a little thin. Please don't think your call is being ignored! :)
Thanks for choosing rescue!

What a cute photo! Good luck finding another GD family member to, while never replacing Blu and his memories, can help fill the void and create memories of his or her own.

Blu was such a pretty boy. Went and saw his favorite pillow. So Cute. Keep the good memories of him and he will always be in your hearts and soon you will have a new buddy to help ease some of the pain.

John -- I just heard from our VA volunteer that she has called you twice and left messages at the number you provided. Please call Jennifer back to get information on MAGDRL Great Dane adoption.
Thanks!

Sorry I missed the calls. We had a bad storm and the power just came back on around 1am. The phone was still out last time I checked so the calls will be going to voice mail. I'll try to get in touch with Jennifer on Saturday.
