We like Bil-Jac Select. Oliver really eats up this food and he looks fantastic. We fed Bil-Jac reduced fat when he was a puppy. ThomO

We feed Diamond Lamb Meal and Rice. Found at Petco and reasonably priced. No corn or wheat by-products.

I'm feeding my 1 year old Nature's Recipe Lamb, Meal & Rice Formula. It's put on the pounds and he's doing great on it! (he was all bones when we brought him home from the shelter)

Solid Gold is the BEST in my book!

or Eagle Pack Premium Select or Holistic.

There are a few others such as Innova or Wellness, but I have no personal experience with those foods.

I'm leaning towards BilJack (some people mix 1/2 of Select and 1/2 of Reduced Fat) or Eagle Pack for my (future) puppy. I've done my homework on kibble, and these are the two that I think are best (and available in my area). The breeder feeds Biljack to the mother also. It's great to hear that you'll be taking your dane baby off of the large breed/and or puppy foods. They can cause many problems, and it's great that you're taking care of her to prevent the painful and usually expensive problems that can result from the wrong nutrition. Kudos to you and best of luck! Amanda

I raised my puppy on Back To Basics, which was recommended by the breeder:

The food was developed by mastiff breeders and, although I don't subscribe to Whole Dog Journal, I understand from another list that Back To Basics was named the magazine's top dog food two years in a row.

I ordered by telephone and it was delivered by UPS with no problem.

We are big fans of Eagle pack 23/12 and so is our girl. We also mix in a little holistic eagle can food. She loves it!

We've been doing well on Solid Gold. I feel good about feeding it to my three dogs, as well as the Sea Meal. They seem to love it. I'm lucky that my vet happens to sell it (they never recommended it to me, though) and they are only a couple of blocks down the street from where I work. I have to be on top of when they get it in, as it only gets delivered every two weeks and there's not a lot of it! Do you buy it close to where you live, do you have to travel to get it, or do you get it delivered some how? Just curious.

Donna, there are several pet stores in my area that carry it. Pretty reasonable prices too!

Another vote for a mix of Bil-Jac Select and Senior. I have heard really good things about all of the foods in this post so you might want to start norrowing it down by price and availability.
