Gender- Spayed Female
Age- almost 2 years
Color- Harlequin
Medical Issues- Had 3-4 days of very strange behavior as in not being able to get up and shaky. After lot's of blood tests she was diagnosed with Addison's disease at 4pm on Friday Sept. 12th 2008. She bloated Saturday the 13th (the next day).
Temperament- Typical goofy Dane. She was always in motion.
Food- Canidae
Human Food- not really
Diet Change- No
Fed twice daily at 6am and 4:30-5pm
Fairly slow eater
Fed on the ground (in a dish:))
Water at all times
Exercise after eating was usually minimal.
She had a littermate that bloated 3 months prior to her.
Signs- Wretching, tender abdomen, just uncomfortable, wanted to lay-had to carry her to the car to get to the vet but walked in once we got there.
Time of incident- Saturday Sept. 13 2008. First signs were probably about 7pm or so-acting uncomfortable
Sequence- 7pm acting uncomfortable. Between 8-9pm wretching. She had ate a little bit in the morning and had also drank water shortly before 7pm so I knew something should have came up. Around 9pm she was down in the yard and couldn't get up. I pressed lightly on her abdomen and she swung her head back as if in pain. She was carried to the car shortly after that and we arrived at the vet about 9:30. X-rays taken, tube passed and she was started on IV's. No surgery performed as she was to shocky. Next morning the tube was passed again and lot's of fluid and gas came up. I took her home a little while later. The following Monday AM surgery was performed and the stomach was still twisted. She recovered uneventfully.
Outcome- Friday Sept. 19 9:30am she passed away suddenly. I believe it may have been due to the Addison's but I will never know.
