I've been told I need to put some more weight on Fritz before his next show. He won't eat any more of his regular food than I already give him. Any suggestions? I didn't think he was thin until I watched the videotape my fiance took of us at the show this past weekend. He looked like skin and bones, but I don't see it when I look at him and I don't think it was the lighting. Thanks!

There is a recipe for Magic Meatloaf in DOL's recipe book:

and on this page is a recipe for Satin balls(and some other yummy bait stuff too!)

I have heard that some show people will use these to help "fatten up" their show babies with these.
My puppy was a little on the skinny side, even though he had a healthy appetite. My goal was slow, even growth so I didn't try to up the caloric intake until 14 months.

Some say he looks fine, especially while he's growing, and others say to put weight on him....I guess a few pounds won't hurt. The judges seemed to like him anyway.

When my puppy showed in 6-9 he had a slight definition of the last two ribs. During the Florida circuit I noticed the puppies that age from "up north" tended to be noticeably ribby. Don't know if that look was by choice or by chance, but two of them took points.

I have noticed a few at shows that I thought were way underweight. I don't really see Fritz's ribs, (just last two or three), but on the tape he looked really skinny. Oh well. I'm going to try one of those recipes, we'll see what happens.

http://www.Ginnie.com has some links to really good recipes. We used a satin balls recipe that worked really well. If you don't find it, I can e-mail it to you.

That's what I made. The satin balls. He loves it, but I mix it with his regular food rather than feed it straight. We have almost three weeks before his next show, so we'll see what happens! Hopefully he won't end up packing on too much weight! :) I know it's hard to say in numbers, but any idea what a good weight would be for a 7 month old, 32" male with heavy bone?
