I brought my dog in with bloat and they sedated her and told me it was best I leave as it was not going to be easy for me to lose my dog in that condition. They said they would give her meds to ease her pain and that it was too late to do more for her. They basically forced me to leave my dog on the table, and stupidly, I did. I went home and for two days I have done nothing but grieve for my dog. I received a call from them tonite, Im not sure when but my phone says at 830pm. All they said was to call, they didnt even leave a number. SO i found one online and they told me that she was responding to the meds and her swelling was reducing and they had done NOTHING more for her. NOTHING. Please dont get me wrong, I am in tears that she is alive and going to be ok, but as I research bloat, they are supposed to do a hell of a lot more than just give her meds and tell the owner to leave her to die basically. I completely lost it with them and actually yelled at them this evening, I couldnt hold back. I have just been through the very worst time and they acted as if it was no big deal. NO BIG DEAL!! i WILL NEVER EVER TAKE AN ANIMAL THERE OR RECOMMEND THEM. I AM SO UPSET WITH WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME AND TO HER. It was like losing my best friend. ALl of a sudden. And she wasnt even dead!!!!!!!!!! K State University did this

You will need to find another Vet you trust and have her stomach tacked. They almost always will do this again and you might not be so lucky the next time.

Would she be considered too old at 7?

Anesthesia and operations are always a risk on an older dog. I don't know if I'd risk it. Be sure you have some Phazyme on hand in case it happens again.

You poor thing! I can't imagine what that had to be like.
I swear, I don't think some vets know how to tie their own shoe laces!

I'm so sorry you had to go through this! More incentive to anyone else out there to find a vet that's familiar with this kind of thing beforehand :( I hope you and your sweet dane are feeling better soon. Hug3

Delta is feelingmuch better. Now Im having trouble keeping her calm. She loves to get the zoomies and thinks she can just do whatever she wants again, so I have been trying my hardest to keep her calm!
