I have been feeding my puppy Eagle pack for about 4 weeks now and have noticed that she does not like it much anymore. She is not real excited about eating it. I have tried NUTRO on a few occasions which she LOVES. I read that NUTRO is very high in calcium. I am worried about that. Does anyone else feed NUTRO and is this something that I should worry about.
Thanks
I think Nutro is a great company. However, I have also read that their calcium is too high for giant breeds. I think the bag lists minimum calcium at 1.5%, and danes should have no higher than 1.2% with an appropriate phosphorous ratio, which I think is similar (1.2% or so, not sure, Dr. Gus?).
I feed my cats Nutro wet for breakfast, and they do very well. But I think Eagle Pack has even better ingredients, and is supposed to be formulated specifically for danes and their needs. Additionally, many posters here have complained that Nutro caused gas or loose stools. I'm interested in what others say here, too.

We are on Nutro and Tank definitely is more gassy than he was when we fed him Eukanuba. We will be sitting with him on the couch and my boyfriend and I will start wrinkling up our noses at the smell. Little Tank just sniffs the air and looks at us like he brought us some roses. ewww :) The gas factor is definitely something to consider.
I've been feeding both my dogs Nutro Lamb and Rice since Maggie came home (at 8 weeks). Neither one has had problems with loose stools, or gas. I'm not sure about the calcium ratios; the main concern for me in choosing a food was protein/fat percentages. It was one of the foods recommended to me that I actually have access to purchasing, and both dogs have done very well on it.

Sable has been on it since we brought her home at 6 wks. she is now 11 months. She is doing great on it. I've had no problems of gas and her stools definately aren't loose. If she does good on it, I wouldn't worry about it.

Just to throw my $0.02 in here, I have had my 18 month old boy on Nutro's Natural Choice large breed adult since he was 4 months old. He does fine on it, but there is a definite gas thing going on! The loose/firm stools vary, it seems, depending on what else he's been eating, i.e. an apple or banana snack, a little yogurt or an egg mixed in, a couple of extra biscuit treats, etc. On the average though.....I'd have to say they lean toward the softer side. I hope to switch him some time in the future, possibly to Eagle, Flint River, or Back to Basics, but for now those are out of my price range.

Yeah, Nutro's Calcium is a little higher than the ideal, but when I compare it, overall, to the other products available here it's still head and shoulders above the rest. I'm just careful not to add anything high in Calcium.
I've had great success with Nutro Natural Choice Lamb and Rice. I think it's because of the quality of ingredients more than anything else. We've never had a problem with gas or loose stools that could be blamed on the food. After Selina's bout with Pyometra she regained her weight (about 15 lbs)in only 10-12 days, she's already back to show weight! Zeta has done wonderfully on it, too.
