I just realized there was a forum on DOL... :)
Anyway, my Danes are 4.5 and a little over a year. My devil child :P , Storm, is named after Norman Schwarzkopf (not very original, I know)... but he is ALLLLLL personality! Happy guy, kissy, huggy, wiggy tail, galumpy down the stairs, tears around my house, chases the butterflies, chases the weiner dog, chases me, has his lips flying all over when running, he's a peach!
Tank is more reserved. He was a rescue, sort of. His breeder sold him to a man who then beat him, I believe, and then when he got sick he called the breeder back to have her get him. She then had him for about 7 months when her life turned upside down and someone who knew me, called and said, "You gotta see this boy, he's awesome!" And he is. Tank is my love. He's guarded with some people but after he realizes they're not so bad, he's a cling-on.:P
Abby, the dachs, runs the roost. She was accidentally hurt by Storm and is now on complete crate rest except for potty times and eating. Her prognosis is very good as long as I keep her quiet for the next 4 months. Storm would feel awful if he knew that he hurt her. Tank is her best friend. He lies by her kennel at night; almost protecting her from the dark.
Boozer was my 14 year old lab who was recently diagnosed with a liver tumor and severe arthritis. I did everything I could to keep her comfortable thinking maybe I had more time. She had a good week last week. Greeting me every day when I came home from work, pushing her head under my hand to be be petted, eating her home made cancer diet food (complete with website ordered cancer helping vitamins and holistic meds); she even chased a tennis ball! I had not expected to find her "sleeping" when I came home later on Sunday. She will never awake. I will miss her forever - she was my friend on sad says, my companion on happy ones, and my bed buddy for more years than I can remember (she knew how to properly lie on a bed leaving me room to sleep, whereas the Danes have not yet figured this out... or maybe they have!!! :) )
Oh, and I have a human son as well! He's almost 12 and very tall.
